The Valera 1602 Purified Spanish Bible

The Valera 1602 Purified Spanish Bible is the work of Iglesia Bautista Bíblica de la Gracia (Grace Bible Baptist Church), a Fundamental Independent Baptist Church in Monterrey, Mexico. Under the leadership of Pastor Raul Reyes, the church painstakingly worked over 15 years (amidst much persecution and ridicule from other Independent Baptists, many of which used the corrupt 1960) in purifying the original 1602 Spanish Bible, bringing it more in line with the Textus Receptus and Hebrew Masoretic Text and the King James Bible.  They learned Hebrew and Greek and carefully went verse by verse time and again with much prayer and fasting.

Believing the work of carefully copying, translating, and defending the word of God is the work of the LOCAL CHURCH instead of CORRUPT BIBLE SOCIETIES (which often deceitfully mix catholic and/or critical text readings in their modern versions), the church in Monterrey learned Hebrew and Greek, and then through much prayer and fasting, carefully compared the Greek, Hebrew, and KJV texts, scrutinizing them verse by verse with older Castilian versions in Spanish to find the most consistently used Spanish Castilian word.  Their work focused on fixing doctrinal errors, making sure no words were omitted, subtracted or mistranslated, and making sure NO CRITICAL TEXT READINGS WERE FOLLOWED.  They also made sure their Bible read along with the original 1602 as much as possible, honoring the beauty of the OLD CASTILIAN Spanish language, and not following modernistic street Spanish words like the 1960, the Gomez and others.

Just some of the many Bibles they used in their work include:

15th and 16th Hebrew translation of the Masoretic text into Spanish:  Escorial; Constantinople - Salonica; Ms 87; Ms 10.208 and others

                Ben Chayim Hebrew Masoretic Text

1537 Juan de Valdés (consisting of Matthew, Romans, and 1 Corinthians.   Also Psalms 1-41)

1543 Fransico de Enzinas New Testament

1556 Juan Perez de Pineda New Testament and book of Psalms

                1553 Ferrara Spanish Old Testament

                1814 Valera Revision

                1817 Valera Revision

                1831 Valera Revision

                1862 Valera Revision

                1865 American Bible Society Revisión

                1869 Valera Revisión

                1909 Antigua Spanish Bible

1917 TANAKH edition of the Masoretic text of Jacob Ben Chayim published by the Jewish Publication Society

McVey Spanish Bible translation directly translated from the King James

1960 corrupt Spanish modern Bible put out by Eugene Nida  (Note: They did not follow this text at all, knowing it was so corrupt. They only had it on the table to look at).

                The King James in English

                The Alameida Portugese Trinitarian revision

                Greek Textus Receptus of Beza

                And many more!

The first edition New Testament of the 1602 Purified (or 1602 P for short) was first printed in 1999, and their second edition in 2002 (exactly 400 years after the original 1602).  I immediately began calling it the 1602 TR (for Textus Receptus).  But others called it the 1602R for Restored, or the 1602 Monterrey. Today it's entitled the Valera 1602 Purificada (or Purified), or just the 1602P for short.  But whatever you want to call it, it fixed all the doctrinal errors in the Spanish Bible, and reads entirely with the correct texts, from which our blessed King James is based!  It also follows the Reina-Valera Protestant text as closely as possible, and remains true to the flavor of Castilian Spanish, and as is not a modern "Street Spanish" translation (like the 1960, the Gomez, and newer versions).

What they produced is the purest word of God in Spanish available today, for it is free of all catholic, critical text readings. It is also the closest Reina-Valera Bible to the original 1602, all others departing from the original 1602 countless times to follow either critical texts or modern versions which change many words with synonyms not found in the original 1602 Spanish Bible.

The 1602 Purified is the version I personally preach from in Spanish, and can hold up high and dogmatically say, "Thus saith the word of the Lord in Spanish!"

I believe in this version so much that I even joined the church in Mexico that put it out.  I am ordained and sent as a Missionary Evangelist to the Spanish Speaking People from this church (In English the church is: Grace Bible Baptist Church).

The 1602 Purified far exceeds the 1960, 1909, 1865, and Gomez Bibles currently being used by Independent Baptist Missionaries. It not only is true Castilian Spanish, but it is also the only Spanish Bible available today that reads with the old Protestant Versions in using "Palabra" in speaking of Jesus Christ instead of the Catholic word "Verbo."  (Note: ALL Protestant Spanish Bibles before 1700 use PALABRA instead of VERBO, as Verbo is the CATHOLIC word introduced in 1793 in the Roman Catholic SCIO Spanish Bible, translated directly from the Roman Catholic Latin Vulgate and the latin reading of "Verbum."  All modern versions today use Verbo as they are Hybrid-Bibles put out by Bible Societies with deceitfully mixed the Valera Bible with the Catholic Scio text.)

Sadly, with all the political groups within the Independent Baptist movement many are too busy pushing their own versions of the Bible, and are too proud to set their corrupt versions aside and use a purer version of the Bible like the Valera 1602 Purified.  This is sad, as there is still much bitter infighting among Independent Baptists who refuse to accept the fact that their versions contain either catholic or critical text readings.  Many have conspired to not even mention the Valera 1602 Purified version, fearing doing so will harm their cause and make them lose support from American Pastors for using a version they know is not perfect (like the 1865, 1909, 1960, and the Modern Gomez.)

Because of this, very few Valera 1602 Purified's have been printed (only about 70,000 copies at the most to date, as I write this in 2012), and are hard to find.  What's needed is more American Pastors, and faithful Bible-Believing Hispanics who want the pure word of God in their own language to get out more information about this version.  We also need more who are willing to donate to the printing of this version, in order to get the pure word of God out the Masses.
